Manchester United Football Club

marcus-rashford-goal-celeb-manchester-united-midtjylland-europa-league_3432578There is no way of talking about English football without a mention of Manchester United. This is the most decorated and successful professional football club based in Greater Manchester to the North-West of England. The club was formed way back in 1878 under the name Newton Heath LYR Football Club and acquired its current name in 1902. Nicknamed the Red Devils, the club moved to their current Old Trafford home in 1910.

The club’s first real taste of glory was when they won the Division One title in 1908, then won the FA Cup the following year before reclaiming the Division One title in 1911. But the successful history for which the club is mostly famously known for did not start until 1945 when Matt Busby was appointed manager. The success was not immediate but by 1957, the club had championship triumphs thrice. The ‘Busby Babes’ as they were called due to the youthfulness of the side were fast evolving into a force to be reckoned with in English professional football. It was also in 1957 that the Red Devils became the very first English club to compete in the European Cup, the predecessor of the now lucrative UEFA Champions League.

In 1958, however, disaster struck when eight players died in a plane crash as the team was flying home from a European club tie. Coming from a quarter-final triumph over Red Star Belgrade, the plane carrying the team and journalists crashed on take-off after refueling in Munich, Germany. Busby, who survived the crash, had to rebuild the team which he did and in 1963 they won the FA Cup against many odds. They followed that with league triumphs in 1965 and 1967. Glory on the European front came in 1968 when the Red Devils won the European Cup. The victory came over none other than the then Portuguese giants Benfica.

What Needs to Be Changed Around Manchester United

What Needs to Be Changed Around Manchester United

gYes people it is the truth. A fact. A problem that we all don’t want to accept but we have to because enough is enough. United aren’t the same as they were. The comebacks are gone, the easy wins are gone, the combination is gone and I don’t know what else am I going to see this season.

But why? David Moyes was an excellent manager at Everton and gave consistently good results. So what went wrong? United have undoubtedly, a better squad than Everton. Better facilities, better medical staff, better everything. Then what seems to be the problem? How can a team with 20 league titles and champions of 2013 Premier League could under perform this much? WAIT! Could the manager alone be the reason to all of these problems?

David Moyes fired the back room staff, previously appointed by Sir Alex and appointed a new team according to his desires. The staff could have helped him a lot and taught him many things which they learned from Fergie but unfortunately, they weren’t given the chance to. But that’s okay. I can forgive him on this because a manager needs to feel relaxed with his crew. A team he knows well. A team he could talk to and trust. But still he should have kept the crew because experience matters.

(Photo by Matthew Ashton - AMA/Getty Images)Manchester United has always been widely popular, so much that its fans are present all over the world; from China and Africa to places like the Old Trafford. However, what’s the reason behind the entire craze for them?

There has always been a debate about the supporters of Manchester not being from there. Some say most of them belong to London, while the rest are not in England also. This seems to be true, as the club is not only popular nationally but on an international scale too.

Some of these fans are so dedicated that they focus on every single one of their moves, judging each and every player. On the other hand, some supporters who are called glory supporters only show up whenever there is a victory by the club.

Old Trafford – The Magnificent Home Of Manchester United

Old Trafford – The Magnificent Home Of Manchester United

jkOld Trafford, The Theatre of Dreams, and the home of the most popular and successful football teams in the world – Manchester United. The Red Devils, managed by Sir Alex Ferguson have lived at Old Trafford since it was built in 1910, with the exception of an eight-year absence from 1941 to 1949, following the bombing of the stadium in the Second World War.

Old Trafford is an all-seater stadium with room for 75,957 spectators. There are also numerous VIP and season hospitality boxes, executive boxes, restaurants and hospitality areas. Surrounding the Old Trafford pitch are four covered all-seater stands known as the North, East, South and West Stands.

The dugout is in the centre of the South Stand. It is raised above pitch level to give the manager and his coaches a better view of the game. The visitors’ dugout is the other side of the old tunnel, The Munich Tunnel, which is the only remaining part of the original stadium.
